Tips for Young Vents and People who want to learn (Part 1.)

Alright! welcome to another column of "A Vent? No Way!!!!" Now, On tips for young vents, and people who want to learn, I would suggest reading Books on ventriloquism, such as "Ventriloquism for Fun and Profit" by Dr. Paul Winchell, and "I Can See Your Lips Moving" by Valentine Vox. Now, as for actually learning, I learned from Jimmy Nelson, on his CD "Instant Ventriloquism And Ventriloquism for the beginner" and then there was another "Ventriloquism 2" They're both on a site called "Ventriloquism 101" for 30 dollars TOGETHER. you can get both CD's in one set for $30 like I said, and if you take it seriously, Then you will get better, and better, and better. BUT! the common misconception about ventriloquists, is we don't actually "Throw" our voices. we make it seem like we do that, but it's all a trick! if you read these books, and, listen to that CD, you will learn how to "throw" your voice, change it, make simple hand, and sock puppets. In no time, Who knows, you might be another successful vent, or maybe you just want to do it for fun! whatever you decide to do, YOU MUST practice! I know you've heard it before "Practice makes perfect!" but it's true, I can testify to that! you're lips WILL move if you don't practice. my lips moved, I fixed it right away! I know it sounds harsh, but ventriloquism CAN NOT be done overnight. If you would like to learn a trick about ventriloquism. leave a comment on the blog and say what trick you would like to learn and I will teach it to you. DISCLAIMER: if you haven't figured it out already, This is weird! Ventriloquism is weird. I learned this lesson a LONG time ago. so, with that said, I love what I do, and if you're going to do this with me, you better love what you do! Let's do this!!!

Well, Danny is being fixed and upgraded to a professional grade dummy, which is considered a deluxe upgrade by thowthings.com and I can't wait! we're putting lefty controls on him so my thumb is operating the mouth and first finger the eyes!

The Myer Soap Hour?!?!?!

Well a few months ago I was alot into my hobby/job. I loved watching Jeff Dunham. I was on http://www.netflix.com and I was watching Jeff and I found out about Jay Johnson, Senor Wences, Edgar Bergen, but most importantly, Jimmy Nelson. His albums 'Instant Ventriloquism and Ventriloquism for the beginner AND Ventriloquism 2' were on a site called Ventriloquism 101 with a now a good friend of mine, Lee Cornell. I purchased the album and got it about 5 days later. I went up to my room and was not seen for until dinner. I learned that to pronounce the letters or "the difficult alphabet" B F M P V W and Y you MUST think those letters. I found quickly that using the front press works too. My figure, George and I went to school and messed with everybody. So one of the class mates said "He looks like a rapist." George said  "Oh your a comedian HEH HEH HEH" and I started picking lint off my shirt and he said "Dont f*ck with the puppet d*ck" My teacher, instead of giving me detention, I looked over aaaaaaaand she was rolling on the floor. now that I've caught you up, I am gonna talk about more experiences

Well in my last post I said something changed my life. here it is. Go back a few years to my third grade year. August 2007 my brother had his friend come over and he showed me something I had never seen before. a guy called Jeff Dunham. I laughed and laughed, but you know, most people are like "haha thats funny" I said "I wanna do that for the rest of my life."  Winter 2008 Myrtle beach, SC. For those of you who have been to brodway on the beach, you know there is a magic shop. We walk in, the first thing I see is a soft MAT type puppet. I look at it in stunned amusement. Now, being jewish and a ventriloquist?? You can't do anything without being criticized. mom wants you to go to college, brother hates it, parents are tolerant,  AND money burns a hole in your pocket. are you kidding me?? nothing could make this worse!!! now mind you, no shows get booked, all you have is youtube to put your videos on!!! As for puppets? all I have to upgrade my act is birthdays and Hanukkah to get puppets!!!  ok, Back on track. Hanukkah 2008 my extended family aunts got me a puppet named George. now george Is my main guy. Now I have 4 total puppets. Billy Bob Joe, a sock puppet, George, my first puppet, AND Danny O' day and Farfel, 2 Jimmy Nelson figures. Next time? well lets just say a CD would make me popular...
